SUBJECT:  EOP - Annual Civil Rights (CR) Achievement Award

 

Action required by: May 31, 2008

 

Purpose.  To provide guidance and solicit recommendations for the subject award

 

Expiration Date.  September 30, 2008

 

Indiana NRCS Civil Rights Achievement Award is designed to honor individuals or groups for outstanding achievements in the planning and execution of EEO and Civil Rights activities within the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) agency and the community. The award will consist of a certificate of recognition and a keepsake award.

 

Outstanding achievements can be defined many ways.  Some examples are:

 

  • Targeting and working with groups or individuals with limited resources
  • Working with groups or individuals in special emphasis groups (i.e., Hispanics, Blacks, Women, Disability, American Indian/Alaska Natives, or Asian Pacific Islanders)
  • Putting forth the extra effort to work with persons with disabilities on an individual basis
  • Conducting outreach activities targeting minority groups or individuals
  • Participation in community activities that enhance the civil rights of all people
  • Working with local boards, agencies, and organizations to promote diversity in leadership
  • Conducting or participating in NRCS career presentations and recruitment activities
  • Designing heritage month posters

 

The Indiana Civil Rights Committee has developed Form IN-EOP-1 to assist in the award recommendation process.  This form can be found on the Indiana home page at

http://www.in.nrcs.usda.gov/intranet/bulletins.html.   Please complete and submit the recommendations to Bennie Clark, Jr. by May 31, 2008. 

 

The Civil Rights Committee makes recommendations to the State Conservationist regarding recipients based on employee input.  Award nominees may further be considered for the National
